Anna Paquin insists she isn’t bothered about baring her breasts in TV show True Blood — because it makes her scenes more authentic.

The toothy actress says there’s nothing “shocking” about the naked body — and she doesn’t mind showing hers.

“It’s like, I’m sorry, maybe there are a lot of women who keep their bras on while they have sex . . . I don’t happen to be one of them,” Paquin, who recently denied reports she’s pregnant, tells the new issue of Nylon magazine.

“I don’t think the naked body is particularly shocking or interesting.

“People are incredibly literal sometimes in how they view you. You have dark hair and pale skin? You must be brooding. The second you dye your hair blond and get a spray tan, people treat you as if you’re a bit stupider and happier.”

Well, I have finsihed all the exercises and believe I have found my
statement. It is:

Rustic Elegance

I read the descriptions they have at the back of the book and it
really does fit me amazingly well. I found the whole process to be
rather interesting and thought provoking.

I can see that I have already been doing a fairly decent job of
expressing my Style Statement in my way of dressing, my decorating
style and also in the way I care for my family.

I'm looking forward to seeing what DocP and Murphy come up with :)

It does take some time and I think you do need the book, unless your
willing to pay $850 for the authors to interview you.

There were 115 questions in total. The catagories are: Home+Stuff,
Fashion+Sensuality, Spirit+Learning, Service+Wealth, Relationships
+Community, Creativity+Celebration, Body+Wellness, Nature+Relaxation.
You are asked what does and does not work for you and then you select
key words, phrases and feelings that stand out. Then you narrow down
the stand outs untill you are left with just a few words.

Everything kind of distilled down to those two words for me. I didn't
even look to see if they were choices untill after I found them. When
I read the descriptons they pretty much said it all.

As for time, I think I spent close to 8 hours over a three day period.
I still need to do the last chapter, the how to put me statement to
work for me part.

a Fashionable for me

I read that US vs European buying habits and felt quite naked, ha!
Yep, that's me...boring colors and trying to get sleek bras.

Overall I think good-fitting bras, let alone more "lingerie-esque"
ones, are a hard sell in the US. The culture has been changing a bit,
but I think first-bra shopping tends to be a mother etc dragging in a
young girl to pick a bra off the rack or get fitted in a sort of grim
way. At least in my circles, it wasn't "let's go off to a temple of
femininity and get you in the best bra to support your ligaments and
suit your taste! And we'll do this twice a year."

I don't even want to think about how old most of my bras were before
they got tossed. [I think there's probably a direct correlation
between their age, poor fit, and my need for industrial-strength
uplift today, sniff.] It wasn't ever something addressed by my (girly-
girly but anti-sensualist) mother and it's not a habit I developed on
my own.

My much-younger sister came of age when Victoria's Secret was around,
and she bought herself a whole wardrobe of pretty bras and underwear.
My mother was scandalized, especially as my sister had a boyfriend,
but my sister earned the money herself, so.

But I guess for a lot of people "fancy" looking bras still have a
whiff of the bordello, don't they? Or at least the boudoir.

Though honestly, how about a little truth Ruth -- well-made and -
fitting bras *do* tend to be expensive (ok, yes, I was fascinated by
her blog entry about cheaper vs more expensive wires for underwire!).
In the more unusual sizes you'll rarely find a good sale. So I bet
many women cough me cough are going to try to get the most out of the
budget. Hence a limited wardrobe of ~ 1 nude, 1 black, and 1 strapless/
convertible, maybe 1 plunge -- all unadorned so as to wear under
anything.

I didn't realize that either about the colored bras not being big
sellers. I stick to nude, black and I have one light ivory bra but
hardly get any use out of it. I do have a dark eggplant (aubergine)
colored bra that I wear quite often too. I guess with my wardrobe
being mostly dark on top, I tend to stick with basic bras that won't
show through. Yes, I am one of the American women who prefer that my
bra doesn't show through my clothes. I do not like VPL either. I'm
not obsessed with always checking and making sure I don't have it but
I would rather not have it. I think it's just a habit I got into and
not that I care so much about who sees what type of undies I have
on. Like Cuddles said, there are so many things people have to cope
with every day. It's not that important.

I had my pits and bikini line lasered. Expensive and there are a few
strays but I was gorilla woman so it was sooooooooooooo worth it. I
would get 5 o'clock shadow later THAT DAY which is gross.

Legs are next. I was getting them waxed but it was only lasting a few
weeks and waiting until the hair was 1/4 inch long was annoying. 1
week of smooth, 2 weeks of hairy. Didn't tickle but I have a pretty
high threshold for pain.

If you get lasered, ask them for the Lidocaine cream - makes a huge
difference.

I couldn't figure out why
so many of the SOS rules didn't seem pertinent to my very rectangle
body, but it makes perfect sense that I resist the suggestions simply
because I'm not aiming for the same hourglass goal!

There are plenty of definitions of sexy, with the hourglass figure
being the most obvious and popular. However, I actually prefer to to
play down any curves rather than add to them - I'd love to have
Cameron Diaz as my body double! Like Vildy I love the long, lithe
body type and now I realize, when I dress, I am trying to make myself
look leaner rather than curvier. I'm really busty and am always
trying to minimize the curves, ack, I want a boyish figure, lol!
Actually it is only as I have gotten older that I have have curves, I
was always long and lean rather than lumpy and bumpy so it may be time
to embrace my inner hourglass. :)

Those drop waist dresses are a good example of not being obviously
sexy - they aren't meant to accentuate your curves. They don't suit
an hourglass, but they do suit a lean built body type. Personally I
really like that 20s look, sigh, wish I could wear it. I think Daisy
did wear them in the Great Gatsby, with those lovely hats.....

Dear Abby someone has a letter the other day, even as the San Diego Sinner. " It was a teenager, that girls wore Thong underwear. She and her sister are now as a "sinner" by their mother.

She said that she is what all girls wear these days, and that they would look stupid in the locker room if they do not bear.

Great job there, Abby! I said the first child "dummies, which ventriliquists use, are those mannequins." And why is Abby provided that the child likes girls? Perhaps the boy is not like girls, but does not want his best friend to know that, so he overcompensates by touching showcase dolls and pretending to like it.

I said, the child he was stupid for the department stores with his friend when he finds something like this. I could have thrown in, "but ... What else is there to do in Galveston?"

But it all reminded me of a couple of things. I once had with someone that a large house on the beach. And they had mannequins all over it. I thought that was a little bizarre. I think they thought it was cool and artistic, I know.

And, I remember the early teenage years and I have a few crazy things to showcase dolls. I would not ever again touch them or something. But there was a time or two, I grabbed a boob. Hey, why not? What other possibility would be a 13-year-old get to do that by 6 "high, 36-24-36?

But what I frequent, has been trying, my friends laugh, as we went by them in the Scott Walker store in the mall, I would stop and say "hello. You come here often?" Or I could say, "You are looking at me, or David? Me? Yes, I knew it right when our eyes locked." One of my better lines was, 'You're the great, silent type. " We'd walk away laughing.

The first time I saw a mannequin with some barely lingerie, my friend and I stop and stare. Our jaws dropped and eyes wide open, like Beavis & Butthead. We could not believe adults actually wore those things!

My friend was ready to leave before me (I am ashamed to admit). He said something along the lines of "Dude, they go to store call security on us." I turned my head to talk to him without my eyes to the slip, and said: "They realize that in a month, this is driven by a real woman. And we will not have the opportunity to stare at them like this again ".

I was trying to be funny. He said: "Oh yes, you are right."

He then again locked in rigid mode. And we stood there for another minute, as the two children in Weird Science.

Web giant Google has banned ads from US lingerie retailer Pampered Passions after deeming them ‘too sexy’ for the UK & European market.

The offending ads were part of Pampered Passions’ campaign inviting men to buy sexy lingerie for their girlfriends this Xmas. The suggestive tone and the mild nudity in the images, though, proved too much for Google who refused to allow the ads to be shown on their network.

According to a Google representative, “The ad has been disapproved for adult content. Only family safe images will be approved. Images which are classified as non-family safe or adult content are disapproved and will not run. Your image contains nudity and mature themes.”

A spokesperson for Pampered Passions said, “Google’s refusal to show ads that are completely acceptable to UK audiences on their network is turning out to be an increasingly frequent occurrence. Google are an American company and while they might seem to be really ‘cool’ and ‘liberal’ in the USA, their policies do seem rather conservative for European consumers.

“An outright ban on ads no ruder than a Christmas cracker joke & featuring less flesh than a swimwear catalogue seems pretty ‘uncool’ to us” they added.

Lingerie-Clad Girl Bounces For Chocolate

This commercial for a Japanese candy is more than a year old but it is so ridiculous we just have to share it with you. It's a pretty well known fact men (well, the straight ones at least) across the globe find it very pleasing to look at a pretty woman with big breasts wearing nothing but sexy underwear and a tiny bra. Even more so if the lady decides to jump up and down while bouncing uncontrollably in that tiny bra. Some countries are just more open than others when it comes to allowing that activity to be publicly displayed.

There's plenty of private and public places where a man can view this sort of activity but a television commercial isn't usually one of them. Unless you live in Japan where men have no problem dressing a girl in nothing but her red underwear and instructing her to jump up and down in front of the camera while shouting something about the product. The fact what she's yelling will, for English speaking folks, sound like she's yelling "jerk off" is just further icing on the odd ridiculousness of the thing.

So watch. Listen to what she tells you. And then decide for yourselves what you'll do next. We don't really need to know about it here. After all, in America, we don't even have sex let alone talk about it or joke about it. Because it's nasty and wrong and embarrassing and impolite to talk about and against the moral fiber of the nation and, well, a whole lot of other stuff. Hey, we know. We have hangs ups here in America.

But we do have Presidents who get blow jobs in the Oval Office so we can't be completely prudish.

Sexy better than Clever

CELEBRITIES such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are brainwashing young women into believing that being sexy is better than being clever, a leading female academic believes.

In her new book Prude: How The Sex-Obsessed Culture Damages Girls, American lawyer and social analyst Carol Platt Liebau says a message is being sent that success comes from trading on blatant sex appeal.

"Promiscuity and sexual aggression" are seen as the only way to achieve admiration, with scant recognition or respect for women's achievements unless they revolve around sex, Ms Libeau says. Today's culture is undermining girls' sense of worth in their most vulnerable formative years.

Ms Liebau says pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are poor role models who had traded on their sex appeal to become famous.

"The overwhelming lesson teenagers are now learning from the world around them is that being 'sexy' is the ultimate accolade, trumping intelligence, character and all other accomplishments," she says. "In a culture that celebrates Paris Hilton and G-strings, there's scant modesty or achievement that isn't coupled with sex appeal.

"Girls are being led to believe they are in control when it comes to sexual relationships."

Not all girls are fooled by the cult of vacuous celebrity.

The Sun-Herald spoke to four girls - all students aged 15 to 20 - who said their idea of success was based on anything but their looks. Alexi Seller, 20, who is studying a mechanical engineering and arts degree at Sydney University, said her education outweighed any desire to head out to a nightclub in a short skirt and fake tan.

"And all my male friends really look down on those girls who do that," she said. "They think it's stupid."

In her latest book about surviving the teen years, Girl Stuff, Australian author and comedian Kaz Cooke says the way magazines portray celebrities such as Hilton and Nicole Richie as role models is immoral and fads such as pole dancing for young girls don't help.

"The people advocating pole dancing say it is good exercise, but so is being chased by lions. It doesn't mean it's a good idea," she says.

Music video clips also send a confusing message to young girls.

"Some rapper is paying several women to writhe around him and look like they're having sex with him; it's revolting," she said.

"If your girl is interested in music, it's giving them some strong images."

A spokeswoman for Women Against Pornography said young girls were constantly bombarded by the media with images of overtly sexual young women.

"It's setting young women and girls up as targets," she said. "It is a backlash to any sense of woman's achievement."

The spokeswoman dismissed the idea that the emphasis on sexuality was a new form of 1970s-style sexual liberation. "It is the same as oppression," she said.

The fifth night of the Wella Fashion Week was all about youth spirit and return of designers to nature.

The day ended with a luxury collection of purses and shoes by famous Italian designer Claudio Merazzio.

Croatia’s young trio Artidjana reaffirmed their signature season after season: big pockets that turn into purses. Their femininity was embossed in high-waist trousers and blouses with high, pleaded collars in earthy tones. They apply construction as a solution for excellent detail – extra fabric that is tied around, falls freely or twisted around the waist.

Sexy, chic and freaky like a Japanese Goth Lolita for men and women is the motto of Ana Grebec. She used the contrast of colours between black and yellow, black and pink, black and turquoise… as well as satin with teal in layered shapes. The designer gave the clothing item two different sides that divide the body into two.

Ana Kojundzic used her imagination and placed a great dragon tail to her collection. Asymmetrical sharp or blunt edges that hanged down gave the clothing item new dimensions.

Silky blouses with enormous bows were the signature of Alex Dojcinovic. A beautiful, baggy dress fixed with metal rings was the recognisable style of Ivana Ergic, but also, Alex herself.

Tomislav Jercic took us for a walk on the beach. His creations were flighty, flowing and wearable. A youth collection for boys and girls that used basic items, such as kitchen napkins, to achieve very effective results.

The star of the evening was Italy’s Claudio Merazzi, who used luxury in the show for the very end. The famous purse and show designer presented his first clothes collection. It was an infusion of haute couture with thin and thick heels. In a nutshell: typically Italian. One more nutshell: Sex and the City.

The rule with lingerie is that the less there is of it, the more expensive it will be. It's the only thing you don't get what you pay for. Lingerie starts simple and then gets very complicated, with multi-layers and flaps and straps and fluffy pompoms. Men can find this quite confusing, and mentally it gives the impression of going to bed with an advent calendar.

Women buy lingerie to make themselves feel good. Men buy it for the same reason. As part of a couple, a man is free to suggest various outfits, but then these need to be translated by the women into something in a non-industrial material that allows breathing and movement. Lingerie now comes in many colours and patterns. Never buy a pattern that would also look good as a wallpaper: it may make finding you in the bedroom difficult. Red is the equivalent of painting a go-faster stripe on your sports car. It's either for people who want to say loud and clear, "I'm hot", or for partners who are extremely slow on the uptake.

Only three women in Britain currently wear a bra that fits properly. Bras are an incredibly complex design and work on the same principles as the cantilevered bridge. It would be better for women if each fitting room had an engineer on standby, rather than a fashion consultant. Underwiring is generally not a good idea in bras. If it was a good idea, men would have under-wired pants. Men's pants used to come in two varieties: clean and not clean. Now men have a bewildering choice of underwear, generally divisible into three categories - warmth, support and display. Warmth and display rarely coincide, unless you wear two pairs at once.

Men normally avoid lingerie departments like they avoid ice on the road. Occasionally, they venture in to make a purchase either for a woman they don't know very well but want to know a lot better, or for a woman they already know too well. In either case, the likelihood of a man coming out with a garment in the right size, colour and decency is vanishingly remote. For a man buying lingerie to be completely safe, his best bet is to buy a high-value gift token. Especially if this token can then be spent on shoes.

Teens blend style, self-respect at fashion event

Too-tight T-shirts, low-cut pants, short-shorts and sexy slogans —
judging by what's available in stores, modest, trendy clothing seems to
be an oxymoron.
In a time when pop singer Justin Timberlake is trying to bring “SexyBack,” just about everyone wants to flaunt it all.
But two resourceful women — members of the Concord Road church in
Brentwood, Tenn. — are bucking the trend and hoping to show Christian
teens they don't have to sacrifice style for self-respect and personal
standards.
Lori Locke and Jessamyn Barrett recently produced a fashion show for
young women to show them how to develop a sense of style that doesn't
compromise their beliefs.
The theme of the show was “Respect — Girls' Fashion Show, Conference
and Luncheon.” More than 200 students, visitors, helpers and vendors
attended the event at the Concord Road building, Locke said.

Nineteen volunteers modeled teen fashions from Dillard's for the event, and others offered tips on skin care. Speakers and door prizes also were featured, Locke said.The program also served as part of Barrett's Gold Award project, the highest rank a Girl Scout senior scout can achieve. It is comparable to the Boy Scout's Eagle Award. “I think the average girl is interested in fashion, wants to be liked and look pretty,” said Barrett, 16, a junior honor student at David Lipscomb High School in Nashville.“But that can bring some problems because a lot of the world's definition of fashion doesn't necessarily fit in with what is modest and respectable,” said Barrett, who emceed the style show.Initially, the idea for the program came from Locke as she watched hundreds of teens at a Christian youth conference last spring. Despite the event's focus on a virtuous lifestyle, the clothing many teens wore disturbed Locke.She began planning a fashion show to prove to young people that they could look stylish and cute without giving up Christian principles.“It's so frustrating,” Locke said. “When parents go out to buy clothes for their kids, what they can find are clothes that are too short, too revealing or they look too old.“Clothing manufacturers don't care. They just want to sell sex.”Helping teens learn how to dress appropriately can fuel family feuds. “You have to set their mindset early for wearing appropriate clothing,” Locke said. “It's a fight you have to fight, whether you want to or not.” Locke arranged for Dale Thomas Smith, a professional motivational speaker, to talk to the girls about the powerful impact of clothing and actions on self-respect and on earning others' respect. Thomas' regular fee is $5,000, but Locke said that when she described the event's purpose and asked her to participate, the former beauty queen gladly waived her fee.Jane Thomas, a Concord Road member, thought the style show was “a very positive” experience for the church, visitors from the community and for her daughter, McCarley Thomas, who modeled in the show.“I think one of the biggest challenges modern parents face is helping children understand that their body is a temple, and God expects you to honor that temple,” Jane Thomas said. She believes that dressing modestly and appropriately encourages a positive self-image and promotes healthy relationships.“People have a better chance of getting to know you if they don't get distracted by what you are wearing,” Jane Thomas said.McCarley Thomas, 13, believes that today girls feel strong pressure to present themselves publicly in a sexualized way. “You feel like you have to dress like the people in magazines and TV programs to be ‘in,'” said Thomas, a seventh-grader at David Lipscomb Middle School.“This show helped me realize how you can be modest and fashionable and cute, ” she said. “You just have to look at it with a Christian mindset and a positive attitude.”Scanning the evaluation forms for the show, Barrett said they were very positive. “I think this is going to have a big impact on the people who came,” she said.And on church members as well: Concord Road's elders already have asked the women to host another fashion show next year.
